Magic Match is an amazing puzzle game by Codeminion. You are Merlin traveling with your imp, Giggles, and you are battling a genie to save King Richard. This epic story takes place in the Lands of Arcane where you collect spell components and coins to help you in your journey. This land has a forest, a desert, and an ocean that you travel through. Magic match is an interesting puzzle game that involves matching components together in a unique new way. Try the game to find out how it works! Some other interesting parts to magic match is the storytelling done through sing-a-longs and the songs have some fun lyrics. I found this game to be challenging and addictive. Give magic match a try today!

I would be so grateful if anyone has any tips or “cheats” for Magic Match - I am really stuck on a level and can’t get any further -
    many thanks in anticipation………..

When you get stuck you can use the shuffle spell and then you can keep going! If you run low on magic you can always collect more by matching on blue tiles to gain magic before you finish the level. Some other tips are to use match the lightning components when they appear since they break all the boxes. Sometimes it’s worth it to use the swap spell so you can use the lightning, it really clears up the board!

If you get stuck you can always duel the wizard to earn more magic points. Then, you can play the stage you are stuck on and use those magic points to shuffle when you get stuck. Also, the blue meter movesfaster when you have more sets of components finished… If you want more time, don’t finish a component set if there’s a few left and work on component types that have a lot left to collect.

Keep watching for those lightning specials that clear all the boxes, those really help, and it’s usually worth a swap spell to get them.

You can’t get rid of the froggy creature. Your best bet is to save up magic points and orbs, and to be careful about when you use swap/shuffle, and try to get those purify spells with swaps. Remember you can swap any two tiles, not just adjacent ones. Hope that helps!

It is impossible, I have re-started the game 3 times but there is never enough magic to get rid of all the things - I just cannot make any progress - it must be possible to skip the level you are stuck on- and the wizard always wins the duel!

Aprille, You can definitely beat the wizard. There are things you have to take into consideration. At first I thought I was trying to get as many components as possible. Then I realized that you have to use pool playing strategy and play atleast 2 moves ahead, not trying to get components so much as trying to get magic (blue squares) which will make it possible for you to move more components to make longer strings to build higher numbers than the wizard.

Deb, I don’t think anyone is getting my messages because no one seems to reply to them. I am on Difficulty 2 already. When I was on level stage 5 level 7 I had problems for a long time, too. First off, make sure you have plenty of magic. If you don’t have magic this will not help you. Try not to swap just because it will give you 5 components instead of three. When it says there isn’t any more moves, reshuffle. And try to get the skulls first. Follow that friggin frog around if you have to makke sure he doesn’t eat them. While you are trying to get the skulls you will inevitably get the rest somehow. And always make sure you’re blue level stays high. You can do this by contining to match even after you have all the blue squares cleared.
    That should do it.

Holly, I tried answering you yesterday but had problems with my computer. The magic orb is cool if you haven’t figured out what it is for yet. You can click on the orb and drag it only to a component you want to collect a bunch of. It will take sometimes 20 of the board, sometimes only a few. But it’s good to choose it wisely, make sure you have a lot of magic so you can reshuffle if it manages to take away one of your moves and leaves you baron. It will end up telling you “sorry” if you do that. The lightning purify makes it so all the boards and traps are out of your way, it puts stuff in order. Hope that was helpful! Colleen

This is a bit advanced… I’ve already completed the game (three difficulty realms) but have yet to figure out how to get the Quickness Trophy. It says that you need to complete a level before without any “potion warnings”. What the heck is a “potion warning” and is a level each board, or a whole realm? It’s very ambiguous, and there are no instructions.

    Reply
  17. Colleen says:

What I think it is, is when they tell you “you have no moves, you should use a magical spell or potion.” I haven’t seen that since the beginning, so I believe you would have to start from the begining knowing you could use magic and not let that annoying little fellow tell you.
Maybe not, I will ask someone on real arcade to be sure.

Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, I’ve gone through levels with no use of magic (swap or scramble), and I think I’ve gone through levels with no “help” from Giggles (highlighted matches before you found one on your own). I could be wrong… Giggles helps out VERY quickly, so he may have helped while I was busy matching somewhere else on the board. And yet, no trophy. The only other thing this may be is when you have magic powers on potions, and it starts flashing before the third turn is up. I have yet to get all of the powers before the flashing begins. *sigh* It would be easier if there were clearer instructions.

Hi, I think that quick trophy is for completing the game without the time/blue potion dropping too low, i.e. to the level it sounds a warning. =) Which personally I could never do, since the very last level is sooo hard.

IVE PLAYED THIS QUITE A FEW TIMES NOW, AND HERE ARE THE THINGS IVE FIGGURED OUT. THE CLOSER YOU GET TO THE END OF THE TRAIL, DONT USE THE COINS TO MAKE YOUR CHAINS IF YOU DONT HAVE TO. THE FEWER YOU USE, THE EASIER IT IS TO CLEAR THE BOARD. TRY TO USE THE COINS ONLY IF YOU DONT HAVE ANY OTHER MATCHES.

WHEN YOU FIRST START THE TRAILS, DONT TRY AND HURRY TO GET ALL OF YOUR COMPONENTS. KEEP TRYING TO GET BLUE SQUARES, THE MORE THE BETTER. SO FAR IVE HAD OVER 1500 POINTS AND THAT GETS ME TO THE END OF THE TRAIL WITHOUT HAVING TO DUEL. THATS THE WAY YOU GET THAT TROPHY.

    Katie,
I have also found out that if you use the coins multiple times you will end up out of time, if you know what I mean. Say I have Two goat heads and two coins but that one coin could be used for the next play, for instance 2 waters, I feel you have to think ahead because those might be your last two moves and if you take the four on one it might make room or move stuff around, or it might not. This is especially important to know when you have all the coins in the middle. (Along with the power star, of course.) As I said before, I play this game as my Dad taught me how to play pool. In pool you don’t have this wicked timer on your behind all the time…but in pool the best way to win is to play 2 shots ahead.

To those of you who were asking about how to get rid of the frog creature, there is a way to do it! If you move the frog to the edge of the board and it tries to eat a square off the board, the frog will leave! You can do this if you make matches so that the frog is moved to the edge of the board. It’s also a little easier if you learn the pattern the frog makes so you know when to move it to the side so that it will explode!

It doesn’t come back during that stage… but you might be visited again by it on a later stage. By explode I just mean when it hops off the board there is some flourish as it croaks, but all it really does is just leave and the components shift over to fill in the space it used to occupy.

  43. The Big Diamond says:

It sounds to me like there’s a bug in the game for you. To beat the wizard you need the most points at the end of the match. You get 2 points for each magic point, 50 points for each component you complete, and then of course the points you collect when you match components directly. You don’t have to have all the items to win, you just need the most points. The wizard duel ends and the winner is decided based off the total points when either you or the wizard you are dueling has completed all the components or there are no moves left on the board and no one can cast a spell. Here is a link to the Codeminon support page where you could contact them directly (they made the game) and perhaps they would fix the bug at some point! http://www.magicmatch.codeminion.com/support.html.

Has anybody got any hints or ideas? I mean, asides from the usual - make blue tile matches, gain lots of magic points and so forth…

    Reply
  47. Dayle Shimamura says:

I’ve finally completed the whole game WITHOUT needing to battle the wizard for more points, and this is what I’ve learned:

-GAIN as many magic points (blue squares) as you can in the early stages of each level. Those are the stages where you can get through it without needing to use either swapping or reshuffling. Even if you are close to being done, if you can safely do it, get more points before clearing out your last component. You WILL need every point before the end of the game.

-MINIMIZE using the swap or reshuffle to save points. You may need to only take 3 components instead of 4 or 5, but while moving the board, taking only 3 opens up other matches, while taking 5 may end up costing you a reshuffle. You really do need to play two moves at a time. You really can’t do much more than that in the later stages with frogs and towers popping up out of nowhere.

-MINIMIZE using the coins, especially later in the stages. For some reason, the coins seem to penalize you by adding more shields as the move happens.

-MAXIMIZE eliminating frozen tiles. I can’t stress this enough. I don’t know why, but a great majority of the time when I do get rid of frozen tiles by matching them, they open up more matches. It also seems to not create any shields as well.

-Work on eliminating components with the HIGHEST total amount to match FIRST. This may seem trivial, but matching 3 of a high total component is much more strategic than matching 7 of a low total component. This is mainly to slow down how quickly the potion level drops. For example, if you are required to match 75 skulls and only 15 books, matching 3 skulls helps to prolong the game over matching 7 books, because once you eliminate a component, the potion level drops FASTER.

-If you have a chance to get the lightning bolt component free (without swapping), by all means, DO IT! But, if you have to swap to get it, take care when you do it because it does cost you 25 points. If you seem close to needing a reshuffle (there are a lot of shields and frozen tiles), get the bolt sooner rather than later. If you still seem to have a lot of matches, and not too many blocks, skip it altogether. It is a give-and-take sort of bonus and each situation will dictate when to use it.

-For those of you with the power star: notice how it moves when you make a match? It emerges out of the side of the board from the direction the move is made. It can also emerge out of a shield if that is where the movement begins. If you take care, you can move a star out of a congested area (full of shields and frozen tiles) into a more open area with matches just by adjusting where you start your match. This can prolong the time before you really need to reshuffle, thus saving those points for later. For example, if you start your match at the power star, it will move in the direction you moved your mouse from the power star onward. You can change the direction of the movement just by starting the match at the other end (away from the power star), or anywhere in between. You really have quite a few options, and figuring out the movement of the star will really help you minimize reshuffles. I hope this was clear. It really is hard to describe. You need to play and see it for yourself.

-You can’t get rid of the frog, but you can sort of dictate what damage it does to you. Watch that silly little thing: it sometimes changes directions based on where your matches move. Also, you can move the frog if you make matches that will move its row or column. Thus, you can sometimes move it out from the middle to the outskirts of the board, thus hopefully making it go away faster.

-Use the magic orb SPARINGLY. Only use it when you can get a whole bunch of matches of a high total component. For example, if you can get more than 10 skulls (out a high total of 75), use it! But only if you have no more matches to make (i.e., when giggles tells you you have no more matches). Also, keep track of the frog. It will eat your precious orb if you let it. If it gets close to your orb, and you can’t move the frog out of harms way, use it regardless of what component you will match. Most of the time, this will at least get you a few more (blue) points, and maybe a few component matches. It may also open up more matches for you, thus minimizing reshuffles. It may not, of course, but at least you had a fighting chance.

-If you have a DONE next to a component, and others that are close to done, but a lot of a high total componet left, try to match more of that DONE component than the ones that are close to completion (if you have an option) while you try to whittle down the amount of high total component. This will help keep the potion from speeding up.
For example, you have 60 skulls, 5 books, and 4 rocks, but have completed the blood. If you have an option, get more blood components over the books and rocks, while you keep gathering more skulls. This way you keep the potion level from dropping faster, thus prolonging the stage, while you still try to get the skull components down to a reasonable amount before the potion starts dropping at an amazing rate of speed. It may seem silly to keep collecting components you don’t need, but in the overall scheme of the stage, you really are keeping yourself alive while opening up meaningful matches, too.

Well, that’s all I have for now… I can’t think of any other hints off the top of my head. I hope this helps those of you stuck at higher levels. Remember, it is do-able. You just can’t keep charging straight; you sometimes have to sit back and strategize. Good luck to you all!

Well, I’ve figured out that in the wizard duel, coins are a major step to winning. Don’t make chains of over 5, because that will produce a coin, which the wizard will then use to gain more points. When a coin DOES appear, make sure you use it. It also seems to be important to finish gathering all your items first, and to gather as many magic points as possible. It all counts in the final score.

    Hi Darlene,
The blue ribbon is just a reward for matching so many and it doesn’t change the gameplay. Feeling accomplished about it is the best you can do :)

As for magic points, when you collect spell components over blue tiles you gain a magic point. You can collect more magic points if you avoid completing a stage and instead focus on collecting magic before you continue on.

I played that game for hours a couple of years ago.
If you like that game I found another game that was reminiscent of Magic Match.
Let me know and I will tell you about it.

Dual the computer. Keep doing that and eventually you will finish 50 levels. It’s after that when you start having trouble. Every time you start stage 2, no matter how far you get, it start all over agin every time you turn the computer off. Any suggestions

what they mean by gather x2 is to collect as many blue tiles because for each one you collect you recieve an additional 2 bonus points… get as many on the board as possible before completing your components. it’s hard, i’m still trying. stage 6 level 5.

I finished the game also and I noticed that you can’t replay in “Free” every level. You can only play the main stages of every level. So you can only play where there is a flag on the map, not the in-between games (hard to explain, you cna’t play all 126 levels. Only 18 levels. Am I doing soemthing wrong, I tried to click in-between the flags and no-way doesn’t let me only on the flags, and when I get in it does say “free play” so I know I am on my profile of winning the game. Does anyone know a way of playing and all the levels or picking any level once you have ocmpelted the game? let me know Magic MAtch Genie lets you do that…

If someone knows the trick as to how to get enough components to get the “Gold” trophy I’d sure like to hear about it.I’ve gotten all the rest of the trophies except that one. Thanks ,Rick

On the map page, click on the Difficulty Level. If you want an ‘easier’ way to collect components, set it to Level 1. Then, click on the flag on the map for the section you want to work on. You will be given a choice of how you want your practice game to go. I have selected the largest number, with the orb, if I have a lot of components to collect, otherwise, I select fewer. Also, I give myself enough magic (usually the largest amount) so I don’t fail. Then, if I know that I need more of one component, I try to get as many of that one before the end of the game. Remember, though, that you MUST win the game to actually add the components to your gold trophy total. If you lose, you start from the beginning. Also, the practice game alternates between the missing components (since the missing components are usually the ones that don’t show up in every game in a section), so you may have to play a ‘worthless’ game to get back to the one you need. You can’t tell the game which components to put in the game, unfortunately. Good luck.

Hope folks are still reading these - anyway, I’ve found that to build magic, I’ve had to exit a level and start it over if it looks like I’m going to be down magic points from the level before. Doing that, replaying each level until I get MORE magic than I started with, I’ve been able to build up something like 2600 magic points by the time I’ve gotten to Difficulty 2, Stage 1, Level 5. (so far).

Re Diff. 1, Stage 5, Level 7, you must work on those skulls (scrolls? I forget which component needs the most) like crazy! Having an orb handy helps when you’re really stuck.

What I currently need help with (Diff. 2, Stage 5, Levels 2 and 3) is clearing the damn shields. Even if I use a lightning bolt, they come right back and I’m stuck again. It seems like I’d have to reshuffle 10 times! I don’t EVER want to have to reshuffle or swap more than 5 if I can help it, to conserve magic. How best to clear those? Thanks for all the tips!
